The agreement, signed by Education Minister Alireza Kazemi
and PGPIC CEO Mohammad Shariatmadari, is part of President Masoud Pezeshkian’s
drive to promote educational equity across the country.
Under the deal, PGPIC will provide 5 trillion rials through
its corporate social responsibility programme and 10 trillion rials under
Article 20 of the Seventh Development Plan. The ministry will be responsible
for identifying priority areas, securing permits, preparing implementation
plans, supervising construction and providing teaching staff.
The projects will focus on upgrading classrooms, equipping
schools in deprived communities, and building new technical high schools to
strengthen vocational education. The scope of the programme covers operational
zones where PGPIC subsidiaries are based.
“Education is the foundation of national development. If it
had been prioritised since the revolution, many of today’s crises would not
exist,” Kazemi said at the signing ceremony. He added that Pezeshkian’s
government sees education as a central pillar for both social equity and
economic progress.
Shariatmadari said the petrochemical group aimed to channel
a major share of its social responsibility spending toward improving
educational infrastructure in oil and gas hubs. “Iran’s petrochemical industry
has been built by graduates of our education system. Strengthening this link is
essential for the future,” he said.
