Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National
Petrochemical Company (NPC), said broadening the industry’s export horizons is
a strategic priority that requires coordinated efforts from all petrochemical
holdings and producers.
“Expanding energy diplomacy and export capacity, along with regional
cooperation to identify new markets, will be key to enhancing Iran’s global
presence in the petrochemical sector,” Abbaszadeh told NIPNA.
He noted that in recent years, access to technology, capital, and
equipment for the petrochemical industry had been limited to a narrow set of
markets. “For sustained petrochemical exports, active participation in
international markets is imperative,” he added.
Focus on Africa, India, and South America
Abbaszadeh revealed that a new diplomatic initiative—developed in
collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—is aimed at deepening
international engagement. The plan focuses on unlocking markets in Africa,
India, and South America.
“The framework has already been outlined, and we expect positive
developments in 2025,” he said. “Our international division is dedicated to
this goal, and petrochemical companies are working alongside us to introduce
Iranian products into new markets.”
The NPC chief emphasized the importance of collective industry efforts
to support the expansion strategy, citing the need for alignment across the
public and private sectors to achieve broader international market integration.
