TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (NIPNA) – Free medical consultations and medicines were provided to residents of underserved areas in Bandar Mahshahr on Tuesday, supported by Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company, local officials said.

Alireza Ahmadpour, head of the Martyrs of the Unknown Medical Group in Bandar Mahshahr, said the initiative was carried out in cooperation with the city’s Shohada Clinic, offering free medical visits and medicines in the Shahid Rajaei township.

The programme, supported by the management of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company and implemented in coordination with the Oil Health Management Organisation and the Mehr-e-Velayat charity, benefited more than 120 residents, Ahmadpour said.

He added that services included general and specialist medical care, nursing and midwifery, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, electrocardiograms, pharmacy services, injections, wound care and traditional medicine, all provided free of charge.

Diagnostic services such as laboratory tests, ultrasound scans and CT scans were also offered at no cost through prior coordination, he said.

Ahmadpour highlighted the role of health-sector donors and volunteer medical groups in expanding access to care for low-income patients and easing pressure on the public healthcare system.

He said the company’s support, particularly through its social responsibility programmes, had played a significant role in reducing patient hardship and improving health outcomes in less-developed areas.

The medical group plans to continue providing such services on a regular basis under its annual schedule, he added.
