TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned Iran’s Petroleum Minister, Mohsen Paknejad, over his extensive efforts to sell Iranian crude despite U.S. restrictions, marking the latest step in Washington’s maximum pressure campaign.

The sanctions come less than seven months into Paknejad’s tenure. Throughout this period, he has repeatedly stated that Iran’s oil exports will not be halted and that Washington’s pressure campaign has failed. He has also asserted that Iran has developed multiple strategies to circumvent sanctions and continue selling oil on global markets.

Paknejad has previously declared that “there is no problem in selling Iranian oil” and that “all necessary measures have been taken to counter sanctions.” His stance underscores Tehran’s defiance, as Iran continues to assert its ability to bypass restrictions and maintain crude sales.

The latest sanctions also target a number of oil sector executives, companies, and individuals connected to Iran’s energy industry. Despite persistent sanctions in recent years, Iran has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to navigate restrictions and sustain its presence in international oil markets.
