The CEO of Karoon
Petrochemical Plant said: "With the launch of the HYCO development plan in
the winter, production sustainability will be obtained for the company, and 30
to 35 percent of the production capacity of isocyanates in the country will be
increased."
Alireza
Sedighizadeh told a virtual press conference that the company’s productions
were used for completion of the value chain which played a key role in
preventing outflow of hard currency from the country.
Karoon Petrochemical
Plant is the only producer of isocyanates in Iran and the biggest one in the Middle
East.
He continued:
"Hydrogen and carbon monoxide are vital feedstock for Karoon Petrochemical
Plant. In other words, these items are strategic feedstock for Karoon
Petrochemical Complex. Accordingly, in order to solve the production
bottlenecks and increase productivity and operation with 100% of the plant’s nominal
capacity, the HYCO project is under way with €50 million of investment. The project
is aimed at production of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.”
The project is
expected to generate between 1,000 and 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
The complex’s
output is used in various industries including auto-making and household
appliances.
