Ali Rabbani, director of energy consumption optimization at the
National Petrochemical Company, said the “Energy Pulse” campaign, launched in
2024, is designed to raise public awareness and encourage broader participation
in energy conservation. He made the remarks during a national gathering of
education officials in Zanjan.
The campaign has reached about 500,000 natural-gas subscribers without
relying on government funding, Rabbani said, describing the initiative as a
community-driven effort that has gained significant public support.
Rabbani said the education system offers an important channel for
influencing consumption patterns because teachers, school administrators and
specialists in vocational and technology education have direct links to
students and their families.
Under a cooperation agreement with Iran’s Ministry of Education, the
National Petrochemical Company plans to expand the campaign through schools and
use them as a platform for teaching younger generations about responsible
energy use, he said.
The initiative focuses not only on technical measures but also on
behavioral changes that can reduce consumption without imposing additional
costs. Adjustments to everyday habits and household practices can deliver
meaningful savings, Rabbani said.
The campaign aims to reach more than 2 million families by the end of
2026, he said, adding that cooperation with the education ministry would be
central to achieving that target.
Students can also serve as “ambassadors of awareness” by carrying
energy-saving concepts from classrooms into their homes, Rabbani said.
Introducing responsible consumption habits at an early age is more likely to
produce lasting changes in individual and household behavior, he added.
The expansion of the campaign reflects a broader effort to strengthen
energy efficiency through public awareness and social participation, rather
than relying solely on infrastructure and technological measures.
The national education gathering in Zanjan provided a forum for
officials to exchange views and experiences on educational, cultural and
skills-related issues. The inclusion of energy consumption management
highlighted the growing importance of resource efficiency and sustainability in
Iran’s education agenda.
