TEHRAN, July 28 (NIPNA) — The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has conducted an official selection event for Data Stewards (Nāzerān-e Dādeh) in compliance with Article 10 of the Petroleum Ministry's Data Governance Directive, marking a key step toward digital transformation and data-driven management across Iran's petrochemical sector.

The selection process took place on Sunday morning in coordination with representatives from the State Administrative and Recruitment Organization (SARO) as well as the Ministry of Petroleum's Directorate for Information Technology, Security, and Smart Government.

Behavioral and Competency-Based Assessment

Candidates nominated from various administrative and technical departments underwent competency-based interviews and behavioral evaluations conducted jointly by SARO and NPC assessors.

  • Assessment Framework: Candidates were evaluated against the operational requirements of NPC, unit-specific data needs, existing IT systems, and standards required for deploying a comprehensive data governance framework.
  • Selection Goals: Chosen stewards will oversee data quality improvement, information standardization, cross-system interoperability, and the expansion of data-informed decision-making within their respective departments.

Strategic IT Vision

Prior to the interviews, Shahram Rezaei, Director of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at NPC, delivered an overview of current IT operations and outlined the company's long-term digital strategy.

The identification, training, and ongoing evaluation of Data Stewards are core objectives under NPC's approved operational roadmap for data governance and smart government implementation, managed directly by the ICT Directorate's Data Governance Unit.
