PRTC Expands Partnerships with Private Tech Sector to Localize Catalyst Production

TEHRAN, July 07 (NIPNA) — The Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) is expanding its collaborative initiatives with private-sector domestic technology firms to accelerate the localization of industrial catalyst production, according to its top executive.

Mohammad Kermani, managing director of the PRTC, emphasized during a site visit to a knowledge-based technology enterprise in Ardakan that the state entity is targeting strategic partnerships to trim foreign technology dependency and build out private-sector technical capabilities.

On-Site Evaluation of Industrial Ceramics, Catalysts

Accompanied by a delegation of technical experts and managers, PRTC leadership evaluated active manufacturing lines producing specialized chemical input components. The site inspection focused on:

  • Catalyst Production Lines: Industrial-scale manufacturing of specialized catalysts tailored for energy and heavy manufacturing sectors.
  • Alpha Alumina & Advanced Ceramics: Production infrastructure dedicated to alpha alumina and alumina-based industrial ceramic products.

During joint executive sessions, PRTC officials highlighted the track record of domestically manufactured catalysts currently deployed in several operational petrochemical plants across the country, noting that performance metrics align with international standards.

Creating a Private-Sector Capability Database

Kermani affirmed that the state petrochemical apparatus will provide comprehensive technical and institutional support to qualified Iranian firms involved in commercializing catalysts.

The site visit forms part of a broader strategic initiative by the PRTC to compile an updated national registry of capable private firms. The initiative aims to formalize joint ventures in technical evaluation, localization, and joint industrial manufacturing of high-value catalysts used across the oil, gas, petrochemical, steel, and ceramic industries.
