The ceremony took place on Monday on the sidelines of a wider meeting
of the Ministry of Petroleum’s deputy council.
Corporate Leadership Realignment
The event served to formally honor the contributions of outgoing NPC
Managing Director Hassan Abbaszadeh. Abbaszadeh's departure from the regulatory
body follows a recent decision by the board of directors of Persian Gulf
Petrochemical Industries Co. (PGPIC) to select him as the new chief executive
officer of the country's largest petrochemical holding group.
Senior officials at the ministerial session expressed gratitude for
Abbaszadeh's administrative service and operational oversight during his
executive tenure at the NPC.
Dual Mandate for Interim Head
Concurrently, Omid Shakeri was officially introduced to industry
executives as the caretaker supervisor of the National Petrochemical Company.
To maintain administrative continuity over the state-owned regulatory
firm, Shakeri will manage the interim supervisor role alongside his primary
position as the Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Engineering, Research, and
Technology. The transitional leadership arrangement is tasked with overseeing
ongoing development projects and industrial policies across the nation's
petrochemical network until a permanent managing director is confirmed.
