The company’s methanol facility resumed operations using the
Iranian-made catalyst, which was supplied under a licensing agreement with PRTC
and manufactured by Pouya Pazhohesh Bakhtar, a subsidiary of the Bakhtar Group.
Kaveh Petrochemical, which operates a methanol plant with a daily
production capacity of 7,000 metric tons of AA-grade methanol under technology
licensed from Switzerland-based Casale, elected to use the domestically
produced catalyst despite having access to international suppliers.
According to the company, this is the second consecutive catalyst
replacement cycle in which the locally produced product has been selected for
commercial operations.
Each catalyst loading consists of 560 metric tons. The latest loading
operation was completed in Esfand 1404, while the production unit was restarted
in Khordad 1405.
The loading process and subsequent startup activities were conducted
under the supervision of PRTC specialists and technical experts involved in the
methanol catalyst development program.
Company officials said the catalyst entered commercial service without
technical issues and demonstrated performance consistent with international
operating standards during startup and initial operations.
The project highlights ongoing efforts to expand the use of
domestically developed technologies and manufacturing capabilities across
Iran’s petrochemical industry.
