According to the company, the board of directors approved the project
on June 9, 2026, authorizing the phased implementation of new production units
designed to generate additional value from existing feedstocks and broaden the
company’s product portfolio.
The first phase of the project includes the construction and
commissioning of a sulfur-coated urea fertilizer unit and related utility
facilities. The product is designed to improve nutrient efficiency in
agricultural applications and enhance nitrogen utilization in soil.
In the second phase, the company plans to expand into sulfate-based
fertilizers through the development of sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate,
potassium sulfate, and calcium chloride production units. These products are
used across agricultural and chemical industries and are expected to support
entry into new market segments.
The third phase focuses on nitrate-based fertilizers and includes
plans for nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, and potassium nitrate production
facilities. These materials serve as key inputs for agricultural fertilizers
and a range of industrial chemical applications.
The company stated that implementation of each phase remains subject
to obtaining the necessary approvals and permits from relevant authorities.
These include establishment licenses, environmental permits, land-use
approvals, confirmation of sustainable feedstock supply, and access to required
infrastructure such as water, electricity, natural gas, and supporting
utilities.
Golestan Petrochemical added that securing the necessary financing for
each stage of development will also be a prerequisite for project execution.
