Abbas Aliabadi announced the target during the inauguration of a
130-megawatt solar power plant at the Kaveh methanol complex, highlighting rapid
growth in photovoltaic capacity development.
He said Iran has achieved roughly 4,000 to 5,000 megawatts of
installed solar capacity additions in the current development phase, with
efforts underway to ensure the full 5,000 megawatts becomes operational within
the seasonal timeline.
The minister noted that solar power expansion in the country has
accelerated significantly compared with previous periods, adding that one
province has emerged as a leading hub for solar development.
He added that grid stability has been maintained during recent
operational disruptions, with system issues resolved quickly and overall
electricity supply continuity preserved.
The Ministry of Energy also emphasized that electricity and water
allocation policies are increasingly linked to consumption efficiency, with
subsidized supply tied to usage patterns and excess demand directed through
market-based mechanisms to support investment in the power sector.
