Mohammad Kermani, chief executive of Petrochemical Research and
Technology Company (PRTC), said the organization has substantial capacity to
adopt and develop advanced technologies aimed at improving industrial processes
and reducing dependence on foreign technical solutions.
Kermani said achieving the company’s research and development targets
would require broader collaboration with domestic manufacturers, technology
firms and industrial partners operating across the petrochemical value chain.
Among the company’s strategic priorities are development of technical
know-how for strategic petrochemical chemicals, production technologies for
petrochemical products, downstream industry technologies and catalyst
manufacturing capabilities for the petrochemical sector, he said.
The executive highlighted what he described as the company’s “dynamic
and integrated structure,” noting that its three research centers are working
closely with universities, research institutes, knowledge-based companies,
petrochemical complexes, suppliers and downstream industries.
He added that cooperation with capable domestic companies active in
Iran’s petrochemical sector would continue to expand as part of efforts to
strengthen local technological capabilities.
Kermani also emphasized the advantages of indigenous and
knowledge-based technologies in solving operational and process-related
challenges, saying locally developed technologies allow production units to
improve industrial processes based on direct operational feedback from
manufacturing facilities.
“The Petrochemical Research and Technology Company acts as a support
arm for Iran’s petrochemical industry,” he said.
Iran has increasingly prioritized localization of petrochemical
technologies and catalyst production in recent years as sanctions and
supply-chain restrictions have pushed the sector to rely more heavily on
domestic innovation and engineering capabilities.
