TEHRAN, May 13 (NIPNA) – Iran’s state electricity utility said it is prioritizing uninterrupted power supply to major industrial consumers, including the petrochemical sector, as part of broader measures to support production continuity and recovery of damaged facilities.

Mohammad Allahdad, chief executive of the Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Company of Iran, known as Tavanir, said the company is ensuring electricity supply to petrochemical plants “in line with their operational needs,” while expanding support measures for large industrial users.

According to Allahdad, coordinated planning with the country’s electricity production and transmission management structure has enabled the utility to maintain supply to industrial units affected by what Iranian officials refer to as the “third imposed war,” while also introducing relief measures for consumption-related penalties.

He said that excess consumption penalties for industrial customers were waived during the period, a move aimed at easing financial pressure on production units and maintaining industrial stability.

Allahdad added that electricity deliveries to large industrial consumers increased by 11% during the reporting period, noting that even petrochemical facilities with partially damaged production units continued to receive sufficient power to sustain operations.

The petrochemical sector, which remains a key pillar of Iran’s industrial economy, operates under the supervision of the National Petrochemical Company and relies heavily on stable energy inputs to maintain output and export performance.

Officials said the electricity support measures form part of a wider industrial continuity strategy designed to prevent production disruptions in strategically important sectors during periods of infrastructure strain and recovery.
