Omid Shakeri, Deputy
Minister of Petroleum for Engineering, Research, and Technology, announced the
synergy during a meeting with representatives from 12 national trade
associations and the Iran Chamber of Commerce.
“The formal offer from these
associations and guilds to participate in the restoration of damaged
infrastructure is highly commendable,” Shakeri said, highlighting the strategic
importance of domestic expertise in the rebuilding effort.
The Ministry is currently
finalizing a formal system to execute these reconstruction projects. Shakeri
emphasized that a core priority throughout the rehabilitation
process—particularly concerning petrochemical utility plants—will be the
optimization of energy consumption.
The Ministry aims to balance
rapid reconstruction with long-term efficiency, prioritizing the use of
domestic manufacturing capabilities for the construction and installation of
necessary equipment.
Representatives from the
national associations expressed their full readiness to collaborate on the
design, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the affected units.
During the discussions, private sector leaders proposed several measures to
expedite the recovery, including:
- Utilization of Original Manufacturers: Engaging the companies that originally designed and
built the damaged units to provide consulting during the assessment phase.
- Streamlined Processes: Reducing administrative bureaucracy and delegating
greater authority to project companies to accelerate implementation.
- Optimized Timelines: Prioritizing methods that shorten construction and
commissioning cycles to restore operational capacity as quickly as
possible.
The meeting brought together
key industry bodies, including the Iranian Oil Federation, the Association of
Petroleum Industry Equipment Manufacturers (SIPIEM), the Iranian Society of
Petroleum Engineers, and several specialized commissions from the Iran Chamber
of Commerce, among others.
Ministry officials
underscored their commitment to integrating the technical advice and
professional insights of these industry groups into the overarching
reconstruction plan.
