Mohsen Paknejad, Petroleum Minister, made the
announcement during the online inauguration of 120 national projects across
oil, petrochemicals, housing, energy, steel, and food security sectors, in the
presence of President Masoud Pezeshkian.
He highlighted that the industry not only meets
domestic demand but also plays a key role in diversifying exports and
generating foreign exchange.
Paknejad noted that from the start of the 14th
government, cumulative petrochemical production reached 95 million tons, of
which 37.7 million tons were exported, earning $15.6 billion in foreign
revenue. He emphasized efforts to expand value chains, reduce raw material
exports, and strengthen downstream industries using domestic technology to
create sustainable employment and increase sector resilience.
The minister added that 14 major petrochemical
projects have been commissioned within the first 18–19 months of the
government, with six already operational and eight more set to be completed by
the end of the year, pending resolution of minor technical issues.
Paknejad stressed that with these developments,
Iran’s petrochemical sector is moving steadily toward higher production
targets, further strengthening the economy and the country’s industrial
capabilities.
