Speaking at a progress review meeting with representatives from the Ministry
of Petroleum, National Productivity Organization, and Ministry of Economic
Affairs, NISOC CEO Ramin Hatami highlighted the company’s pivotal role in
southern Iran, producing roughly 75% of the country’s crude oil and nearly 10%
of its gas. The company operates across seven provinces, managing 61 oil
reservoirs and 20 independent gas fields, with recoverable reserves estimated
at 109 billion barrels.
Hatami emphasized the importance of applying advanced technologies,
enhanced recovery methods, and efficiency improvements, especially as many
reservoirs enter later production stages. Flare gas collection, despite
technical challenges related to varying pressure, volume, and composition, has
been identified as a high-value initiative that reduces environmental pollution
while increasing national wealth and completing the hydrocarbon value chain.
He added that reports detailing the quantity and quality of captured
flare gas will be released soon and expressed hope that continued efforts will
further reduce gas flaring, boost revenues, and preserve national resources.
