In a message marking Research Week, NPC CEO Hassan Abbaszadeh said
research was no longer merely an academic pursuit but a strategic necessity for
boosting productivity, cutting costs and securing a stronger global position
for Iran’s petrochemical sector.
“Iran’s petrochemical industry, as a pillar of the national economy,
needs research achievements and modern technologies more than ever,” Abbaszadeh
said, adding that progress would only be possible through close cooperation
among researchers, specialists and industry managers.
He said NPC has pursued a broad range of research projects, supported
research centres, expanded university-industry cooperation and created
innovation platforms to advance scientific and industrial goals.
Abbaszadeh highlighted two priority research areas, including research
and technology focused on developing advanced technologies such as catalyst design
and production, which he said have played a key role in localising technical
know-how and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
He also pointed to human resources research and development, aimed at
strengthening skills, documenting organisational experience and building
learning systems to ensure knowledge continuity and professional growth across
the industry.
Abbaszadeh praised the efforts of research and operational staff
across the sector and said that strengthening domestic research capabilities,
supporting elites and investing in both technological innovation and human
capital would be critical to the continued growth of Iran’s petrochemical
industry.
