TEHRAN, Dec. 7 (NIPNA) – Iran’s Petroleum minister said recruitment in the country’s oil industry must be based on fair and competitive criteria open to graduates of all universities, adding that hiring capacity would be expanded in line with sectoral needs, state media reported on Sunday.

Mohsen Paknejad, speaking during a visit to the Tehran Petroleum University of Technology on Student Day, said the oil sector requires young, skilled manpower and continues to rely on graduates of the Petroleum University and other engineering institutions.

He praised the long-standing role of the Petroleum University in training senior managers and specialists but noted that exclusive reliance on a single university would be unfair to other qualified graduates. Paknejad said the ministry is preparing measures to ensure equal opportunity for all competent candidates through transparent and competitive processes.

The minister added that sustained cooperation with universities and faculty members would help address academic and training challenges, and support the industry’s long-term human-resource needs.
