Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Petroleum Minister and head of the
National Petrochemical Company (NPC), told the zone’s Strategic Council on
Sunday that petrochemical producers must allocate funding and implement social
responsibility projects “purposefully and with precision.”
“One of the industry’s core duties is to support local
communities,” Abbaszadeh said, urging complexes and project owners to increase
participation in building infrastructure and cultural, educational and
healthcare facilities. He highlighted educational equity, school modernization
and digitalization as priorities emphasized by the president.
Abbaszadeh said companies should fully support council
resolutions and take practical steps to meet their commitments. He added that
efforts to develop the zone with a greater focus on completing the value chain
and creating higher value-added output would help ensure balanced growth across
the sector.
“There is significant potential for value-chain expansion in
the petrochemical zone, and social responsibility must be pursued with the same
level of seriousness,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Amir Hayat-Moqaddam, a member of
parliament representing Mahshahr and surrounding counties; Mohammad-Reza
Motiri, head of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization; local
officials including the Friday Prayer leader of Bandar Mahshahr; and chief
executives of regional petrochemical companies.
