TEHRAN, Nov. 4 (NIPNA) – Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum has ranked first among more than 3,000 government bodies in implementing the country’s Freedom of Information law.

The law, designed to enhance transparency, accountability, public trust, and anti-corruption efforts, requires public and private entities providing public services to make information accessible and respond to citizens’ requests.

Since its enactment in 2017, over 3,000 organizations have processed citizen inquiries through the national information access platform, iranfoia.ir. According to evaluations conducted on the platform, the Ministry of Petroleum achieved the top ranking in the first half of 2025 for its responsiveness to citizen requests, transparency in information dissemination, and efforts to improve public engagement.

Officials said the achievement reflects the ministry’s commitment to strengthening organizational accountability, transparency, and social capital development within the framework of Iran’s e-government policies.
