TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (NIPNA) – Iran’s petrochemical industry has defended its salary structures following recent public discussions over employee and executive compensation, stressing that all payments in both state-run and private-sector petrochemical companies comply with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Salaries in state-owned petrochemical firms remain within government-approved ceilings, with regular oversight by the Supreme Audit Court and other supervisory bodies. In some cases, payslips show gross amounts exceeding the cap due to accounting procedures, but deductions are applied before final payments to keep them below the legal limit, it added.

Industry officials noted that misinterpretations of these accounting practices have fueled misconceptions about alleged high salaries. They warned that fixed wage caps, while intended to ensure fairness, risk creating long-term challenges in workforce management, especially in operational sectors.

Despite the debate, the petrochemical sector remains one of the most transparent industries in Iran, with compensation processes fully regulated and audited, the report said.
