TEHRAN, Sept 11 (NIPNA) – The Iranian petrochemical sector has taken a decisive step toward data standardization with the launch of SamaP, a centralized platform for technical specifications of petrochemical products.

Mohammad Motaghi, Director of Downstream Industries Development at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), described the platform as a “milestone in transparency and standardization,” noting that it will streamline access to consistent technical data for downstream industries.

“Previously, every product listed on the commodity exchange had to be accompanied by a datasheet detailing its chemical and physical properties,” Motaghi explained during the launch at the 19th IranPlast exhibition. “This process was largely manual, prone to discrepancies, and often caused confusion among buyers and downstream manufacturers.”

SamaP addresses these challenges by mandating that all petrochemical companies upload their products with standardized specifications. Over 1,500 polymer product standards were reviewed and harmonized during development, ensuring that buyers now have access to a single, authoritative datasheet for each product grade.

“This platform eliminates ambiguities that previously led to disputes or inefficiencies in downstream industries,” Motaghi said. “Going forward, SamaP will serve as the official reference for product specifications, and no discrepancies will arise between companies.”

He added that this is only the first phase: chemical products will be integrated into the system next, alongside the establishment of reference laboratories to validate the data. SamaP thus represents a key step in strengthening Iran’s petrochemical infrastructure, supporting both domestic downstream industries and international trade.
