TEHRAN, Sept 9 (NIPNA) – The IranPlast exhibition has emerged as a key platform for fostering synergy among various sectors of Iran’s petrochemical and polymer industries, according to Afshar Baziyar, CEO of Shestan Commercial Investment Company.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 19th IranPlast exhibition, Baziyar emphasized the strategic importance of polymers, noting that they contribute higher value-added compared to other petrochemical products and can often be classified outside raw or intermediate products. “Focusing on this sector as the centerpiece of the exhibition was a fully strategic decision,” he said.

Baziyar highlighted that steering development toward engineering polymers and technologically advanced products could yield greater benefits for the country, boosting profitability for producers and enhancing Iran’s position in the global value chain.

This year, over 700 companies participated in the exhibition, spanning manufacturers, technology firms, and commercial enterprises. “This diverse mix demonstrates that IranPlast has become a serious platform for collaboration across different segments of the petrochemical and polymer industries,” Baziyar noted.

He added that despite challenges and restrictions faced by the sector in recent years, such events have played a critical role in maintaining industry connections. “These interactions have helped position Iran’s petrochemical and polymer industry as one of the main pillars of the national economy,” he said.

Regarding Shestan’s development plans, Baziyar mentioned the recent commissioning of a 183-MW power project in Chabahar as a key infrastructure initiative supporting regional sustainable growth. He also noted that several additional projects, including power generation and storage expansion in Asaluyeh, are expected to be inaugurated within the next month.

Baziyar concluded that IranPlast provides an essential platform for showcasing domestic capabilities, fostering new collaborations, and exchanging industry expertise. He expressed hope that continued investment in engineering polymers will further pave the way for growth in Iran’s petrochemical sector.
