TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Ali Abdolali Zadeh, the special representative of the President in coordinating the implementation of the policies for the development of maritime-based industries, emphasized the necessity of encouraging methanol producers to invest in the next phase of production and complete the value chain.

Speaking at the commemoration of Persian Gulf Day during the 7th Iran Expo, Abdolali Zadeh stressed the importance of accelerating the development of the petrochemical industry. He stated that methanol exports, while offering the lowest prices, could generate two to three times more value when further processed.

He underscored the government's focus on maritime-based development, which includes countries with coastlines on open waters. He highlighted the geopolitical significance of Iran’s position with access to multiple seas and the strategic advantages this brings.

The special representative also pointed out that none of Iran’s ports are ranked among the top 100 ports globally, despite the country’s significant 1,800 kilometers of coastline, which places it among the top 20 countries in terms of sea borders.

He emphasized that by developing Iran’s ports, the country could facilitate the transit of hundreds of millions of tons of goods, which could significantly boost trade.

Abdolali Zadeh concluded by noting that Iran’s coastal areas in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are unique in their potential for development, calling for greater utilization of this advantage.
