Abdulrahim Qanbarian, CEO of Pardis Petrochemical Company,
emphasized the company’s commitment to social responsibility, especially in
supporting vulnerable and underprivileged families.
“As part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives
and to mark the blessed occasion of Eid al-Fitr, after discussions with the
Body Injury Compensation Fund, we reached an agreement to resolve the legal
issues of these 60 individuals. They were facing severe legal actions,
including arrest and imprisonment, due to accidents caused by lack of insurance
and bodily harm. This intervention has now cleared their debts and halted the
judicial proceedings,” Qanbarian said.
He further stated that while the company’s focus remains on
production and economic development, it is also deeply committed to social
causes. “Helping prevent the imprisonment of these individuals is not only a
humanitarian action but also an effort to preserve family structures and reduce
social harm. In fact, prevention is always better than treatment. Too often, we
wait for people to be imprisoned and then intervene to help them. In many
cases, we can prevent such situations from occurring by collaborating with
other sectors beforehand,” he added.
Mediating the Debt Settlement Process
Mehdi Qomsarian, head of the Body Injury Compensation Fund, highlighted the
institution’s critical role in fulfilling obligations under the third-party
insurance law, established in 2016. This law mandates the compensation of
victims injured in road accidents when the responsible parties cannot afford to
pay. “As a public non-governmental support institution, the Fund’s mission is
to compensate third-party victims of vehicle-related accidents, as required by
law,” Qomsarian explained.
He pointed out that many of those owing compensation are
from vulnerable groups, including low-income individuals and beneficiaries of
charities like the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the Welfare
Organization. “These individuals do not have the financial means to repay their
debts, and there is no legal provision for the cancellation of their
obligations. The Fund is legally required to pursue recovery efforts from the
responsible parties,” Qomsarian said.
He further mentioned that thanks to Pardis Petrochemical
Company’s support, the Fund successfully intervened to clear the debts of 60
individuals in Bushehr, whose combined debt amounted to over 12.5 billion rials
(approximately $29,800). These individuals were either beneficiaries of social
support programs or from the lower-income sectors of society.
A Model of Corporate Social Responsibility
Qomsarian concluded by praising the initiative, saying it represents a valuable
example of effective and targeted corporate social responsibility. “This model
can serve as an inspiration for other companies and industries across the
country to help improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups,” he added.
Through this joint effort, Pardis Petrochemical Company has
not only prevented the imprisonment of dozens of individuals but also
reinforced its role as a socially responsible corporate entity committed to the
welfare of its community.
