Members of the Energy Commission met with Paknejad at the Ministry of
Petroleum on Sunday, declaring their full backing on behalf of the Islamic
Consultative Assembly (Parliament).
Lawmakers condemned the sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury
Department and expressed their solidarity with Paknejad, referring to him as a
key figure in Iran’s “economic resistance.” They also emphasized Parliament’s
unwavering support for the oil sector and its leadership.
The U.S. Treasury announced on Thursday (March 13) a new wave of
sanctions against Iran’s oil industry, including blacklisting Paknejad for his
role in facilitating oil sales. The move is part of Washington’s continued
efforts to tighten economic pressure on Tehran.
