TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Head of Research and Technology of Shahid Tondgouyan Petrochemical Plant said the company is to be the first Iranian petrochemical firm to celebrate localization of all the catalysts, chemicals and heat transfer intermediate oils with the cooperation of Iranian knowledge-based companies.

According to Shahid Tondgouyan Petrochemical Company, the plant is the largest production chain of polyethylene terephthalate products in the petrochemical industry in line with the strategic plans announced by the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC).

In order to localize production of key items, equipment, catalysts and chemicals used in petrochemical processes, the company has put localization of at least 12 catalysts, consumable chemicals, heat transfer oils, molecular resin and textile oil on its agenda.

Abdullah Sheikhnejad Moghadam, Head of Research and Technology of Shahid Tondgouyan Petrochemical Company, stated that for the first time in the history of Iran's petrochemical industry, the company has localized and Iranianized the "palladium" catalyst, which was monopolized by American, European and Japanese companies, by using the power of domestic knowledge-based companies.

He said the first domestic project of extracting palladium from used catalysts to provide palladium metal required for the manufacture of the mentioned catalyst has been completed and the contract for production of this catalyst is about to be concluded with a domestic knowledge-based company whose implementation will begin soon.

The official went on to add that localization of CMB, cobalt acetate, manganese acetate, antimony triacetate, antimony trioxide and platinum catalysts based on alumina are other ongoing programs at the facility, noting these plans are expected to be fulfilled soon with the efforts and cooperation of Iranian knowledge-based companies.
