TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said the recent US Treasury sanctions on him and other key Iranian energy executives had only made them more determined in serving the nation.

Addressing a ceremony to launch gas projects in the southern province of Fars, Mr. Zangeneh said, "These sanctions have no effect and have only strengthened our resolve to serve the people."

“Mr. Trump in his final days in the White House boycotted a number of senior oil executives under the pretext of supporting terrorism. We are victims of terrorism, but we do not support it. We are the enemy of terrorism and that is why we opposed Mr. Trump; over the years, he has spearheaded terrorist movements.”

He stated that the sanctions were a sort of revenge and malice seeking, and had no effect, adding: “Today, some people wrote that a flood of sanctions was on the way! There is nothing left to be boycotted at all. They boycotted everything. Unless they put our colleagues in the service sector in the list of sanctioned persons.”

The Minister of Petroleum continued: "Neither are we afraid of sanctions nor has it any effect on our work, it only strengthens our determination to serve the people; we are proud to serve the people and stand firm on the people."
