The semi-industrial unit of propylene production from methanol is
located in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran.
Senior petrochemical officials as well as executive from the PRTC and
the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) attended the unveiled
ceremony of the strategic plant.
A while earlier, Behzad Mohammadi, Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical
Affairs and the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), invited
investors to visit propylene production projects from methanol, and announced
the implementation of Iranian technical knowhow of processes and catalysts production
in the GTPP and MTP projects of the country.
The semi-industrial unit operates with 120,000 tons per year of production
capacity and uses the catalysts supplied by PRTC.
In the petrochemical industry macro-plan, smart development based on the
development of propulsion projects through propylene production has been
considered as one of the important development chains. Therefore, first it is
necessary to increase the production capacity of propylene and then pursue smart
development of the industry in this direction.
