TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iran’s Urmia Petrochemical Plant has launched its Potassium Sulfate Unit successfully as one of the downstream development projects of the petrochemical industry.

The unit is constructed with the aim of completing the value chain in northeastern Iran, preventing the sale of raw materials and developing various strategic products without the presence of foreign experts, reported the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC).

Karim Deljavan, the CEO of Urmia Petrochemical, said the production line of potassium sulfate is operating with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons.

According to him, considering the launch of this production line, the company's product portfolio is more diverse.

He said potassium was added to the company's product portfolio with the aim of producing a by-product of hydrochloric acid with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, which is one of the raw materials used in the poly-aluminum chloride (PAC) project of the company.

As he said, the PAC project is being developed in line with the goal of completing the value chain and is one of the development projects of Urmia Petrochemical Plant, for which preparations have begun.

The CEO of Urmia Petrochemical Plant further declared that his company had devised detailed plans for diversifying its product portfolio.

Urmia Petrochemical Plant is a subsidiary of Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group (Petrol).
