TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's production capacity of polyethylene products has increased with the opening of Miandoab Petrochemical Plant to five million tons per year.

This is while construction of 5 projects in under way to enhance PE output of the country.

Inauguration of Miandoab Petrochemical Plant by using Iranian-made catalysts and getting fed by West Ethylene Pipeline, the country's "heavy polyethylene" production capacity has increased by about 140,000 tons per year.

Miandoab Petrochemical Plant is the 15th complex producing light, heavy and light linear polyethylene products to increase the production capacity of polyethylene items to five million tons.

On the other hand, it is predicted that with the realization of the second and third leaps in the petrochemical industry will increase PE output further in the coming years.

In addition, permits have recently been issued for construction of three new polyethylene production plants, as the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) has announced construction of a 300,000-ton polyethylene production complex adjacent to Gachsaran Petrochemical Plant.
