The
$120m project is one of 17 projects planned to come on stream in the current
calendar year, which began on March 20.
The
140,000-ton Miandoab high density polyethylene production plant will be fed by West
Ethylene Pipeline and was launched by video conference in the presence of the Iranian
President on Thursday, June 25.
70%
of the complex's equipment and catalysts are supplied by domestic
manufacturers. The project will directly create employment for 460 people. The
products of this complex are exported after meeting domestic needs. The value
of the complex's products is estimated at $142 million per year.
After
Kavian, Mehr, Kermanshah, Lorestan, Kurdistan, Mahabad, Ilam, Tabriz and a
number of Mahshahr petrochemical complexes, Miandoab joined the subscribers of
West Ethylene Pipeline.
The
unit, purchased by Bakhtar Petrochemical Company, is licensed by Mitsui of
Japan and the shareholders of Miandoab Petrochemical Company are Bakhtar
Holding Company with 70% stakes and Pushineh Methanol (30%).
With
the operation of Miandoab Petrochemical Plant and the connection of Tabriz
Petrochemical to West Ethylene Pipeline, only two more steps will remain to
close the case of construction and development of the largest ethylene
transmission line in the Middle East.
