TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of Karoon Petrochemical Company said his company’s expenses would be reduced by at least one-third with the use of local catalysts and the items produced by Takht Jamshid Petrochemical Plant.

Addressing a ceremony to officially launch the second phase of Takt Jamshid Petrochemical Plant, Alireza Sediqizadeh said on Tuesday that his company was the first producer of isocyanates in the Middle East, which is a manifestation of preventing sale of crude oil and gas.

The official said his company operated with 500,000 tons/year of production capacity of which 220,000 t/y were salable.

He said the launching the project 70 jobs were directly created, adding 35% of Karoon Petrochemical Plant’s costs concerned procurement of platinum and palladium catalysts which were now to be replaced by nickel catalysts supplied by HNT Holding Company.
