The plant is
commissioned with 55,000 tons/year of polybutadiene rubber production capacity.
A ceremony
was held in the facility which is located in the southwestern city of Khuzestan
on Tuesday, in the presence of senior government and petrochemical officials to
launch the project.
The CEO of
the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Behzad Mohammadi, and Sourena Sattari,
deputy Iranian president for technological affairs, attended the ceremony.
During the
ceremony, Mohammadi said one of the main features of the plant is the fact that
it was fully developed by Iranian and local savvy.
“This is one of the first petrochemical
projects which were fully developed by Iranian knowhow and efforts of local
experts,” he said.
Besides
polybutadiene rubber, the plant will also supply 20,000 t/y of latex, 5,000 t/y
of STP and 18,000 t/y of Hips-grade polybutadiene rubber.
The first
phase of the plant was launched in 2016 and is a supplier of SBR/PBR.
