TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said that NGL 3,100, 3,200 and Persian Gulf Bidboland Refinery played key roles in feedstock supply petrochemical plants.

Behzad Mohammadi said on Wednesday that such projects played key roles in preventing flaring gas in petroleum operating areas.

He told a meeting with executives of Khark Petrochemical Plant that completion of the value chain in the facility was an indication of the plant’s integrated management.

Mohammadi said that 220 mcf/d of gas was flared in Forouzan Field, adding plans were underway to prevent gas flaring in the facility.

Khark Petrochemical Plant is the second oldest petrochemical facility in Iran after Marvdasht.

Iran will launch 21 petrochemical projects by 2021 and complete another 26 projects by 2025.

Khark NGL and Methanol II projects are to be launched in the second leap of the industry by 2025.

Iran’s petrochemical production capacity is expected to reach 130 million tons per year by 2025.
