TEHRAN (NIPNA) – A member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said that the downstream petrochemical industry could play a significant role in realizing production boom and economy of the country.

Speaking to NIPNA, Mohammadi Amirzadeh said that the downstream sector of the petrochemical industry could play a major role in the country's economy, adding development and strengthening of this sector required planning and investment.

Noting the forward progress of the petrochemical industry in Iran, he said that the boom in the petrochemical industry could not be denied, adding that Iran Plast Exhibition represented only one small section of the petrochemical industry of the country.

“In Iran, the industry is now booming and bustling forward,” he said.

He added that, as industry officials have pointed out, the third leap in the petrochemical industry is under way. According to plans, by the end of 2025, a third leap in petrochemical production will occur in Iran, which will increase the capacity to produce petrochemicals dramatically.

Amirzadeh said the leap would generate many jobs in the country and bring a lot of value added to the country through downstream petrochemical industries; developing and strengthening this sector requires planning and investment.
