Polymer Company, said on Wednesday that a new product from the heavy
polyethylene group had been produced by the company for the first time in Iran.
He said the item was unveiled on the sidelines of the
13th Iran Plast International Exhibition in Tehran. The 4-day fair wrapped up
on Wednesday.
Bahraini said industrial production of the new heavy
density polyethylene grade had rendered Iran needless of importing the item.
“Aria Sasol is the first Iranian company to produce
this valuable item in accordance with international standards on an industrial
scale.”
The item is widely used for production of car tanks,
high quality plastic barrels as well as one-tonne barrels of chemicals
(IBC-Tank) and has all the features tantamount to BASL products.
The official said that there was a 50,000-ton market
for the product in Iran, adding that the grade was vigorously sought after in
international markets as well.
He added: “Along with creating more value added and
completing the product’s value chain, a project has also begun for construction
of a new polyethylene unit with an investment of $300 million and a production
capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year, which is expected to become operational by
February 2022. When the project comes online, the plant’s production capacity
will reach 2 million tons per year.
Aria Sasol Polymer Co., with a production capacity of
1.7 million tonnes of ethylene, C3 and polyethylene (light, medium and heavy)
is an Iranian polymer giant based in Pars Special Economic Zone.
