The director of the plant said it had no feedstock problem and was ready
to meet the summer demand of PET bottles, referring to a 10% jump in production
of polyethylene terephthalate in the first 100 days of this year.
Mohammad Issa Anusha said the increase in production capacity of the facility
was made possible by overhauling various units as well as removing the production
bottlenecks in the facility.
The plant supplied 1,200 tons/day of PET bottles during the period.
Martyr Tondgouyan Petrochemical Co., as the largest and only PET
producer in the petrochemical industry of Iran, has the capacity to produce
various products, including various grades of PET, which requires about 470,000
tons of Para-xylene as feedstock annually.
Tandoogh Petrochemical Company, with an annual production capacity of more
than 1.587 million tons, is the only producer of PET and PTA in Iran.
Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) is one of the most important raw
materials for production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins, which have
grown rapidly in terms of production and consumption in the world.
Polyethylene terephthalate is also one of the most important
polyesters used in the production of synthetic fiber and cotton for the textile
industry, and producing bottles for soft drinks, cans and containers used in packaging
of food, pharmaceutical, and sanitary products, as well as the plastic film
industry.
