Addressing a meeting with senior petrochemical officials
including Reza Nourouzzadeh, CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), and
representatives of several ongoing petrochemical projects on Monday, Mrs.
Shahdaei said, "We at the Petroleum Ministry are pursuing the challenges
faced by the petrochemical industry; one of which is feedstock supply to the industry,
which includes feedstock production, distribution and delivery and the ministry
will do its utmost to complete the existing projects in order to generate more
value added."
She also stated that financing of projects is one
of the major issues faced by them, adding the issue has also been considered by
the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum which is planning to tap banking resources as
well as the National Development Fund for funding the projects.
"It is the Petroleum Ministry's strategy to
pursue completion of petrochemical projects or define new ones to be fed by the
available feedstock," Mrs. Shahdaei added.
She said sanctions may affect all industries in
the country while by relying on domestic capabilities, "we can stride in
the path to progress."
