Speaking to NIPNA, Hedayatollah Khademi, who is also a member of the energy committee of the parliament, said the body is prepared to support the petrochemical industry’s development by passing supportive laws that would address the sector’s issues.
He said the petrochemical industry is one of the sectors that can generate the largest number of jobs in the country, adding there are certain structural disorders in the sector that prevent attraction of new investments in the industry that should be resolved.
The MP said the parliament must pave the ground for investors to join petrochemical projects more freely, adding Iran’s share in the global petrochemical market is not acceptable for the time being and must be promoted in the near future.
He also said that plans must be made to wean the country off oil revenues by developing petrochemical facilities across Iran.
