TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran stands as a stable and secure gateway for the production and transit of energy carriers and petrochemical products in the region, said Morteza Shahmirzaei, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, during the Asia-Europe Oil and Gas Congress.

Addressing the strategic cooperation session between Iran and Russia in the fields of oil, gas, science, and technology at the Russian National Oil and Gas Congress, Shahmirzaei highlighted Iran's significant position in the global energy landscape, owing to its extensive reserves of oil and gas.

"Iran serves as a stable and secure harbor in the region," Shahmirzaei asserted, pointing out the country's long coastline stretching from the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean, facilitating the transit of oil, gas, liquefied gas, various petrochemical products, and other commodities.

With Iran's prowess in technical and engineering services being globally recognized, Shahmirzaei emphasized the country's readiness to collaborate on the production and sale of goods and equipment to companies and customers worldwide.

"In the refining sector, we benefit from 11 small and large refineries, and our daily gas production exceeds one billion and one hundred million cubic meters," Shahmirzaei added.

Referring to the rapid development trend in Iran's petrochemical industry, Shahmirzaei noted that its production capacity surpassed 95 million tons last year and is set to exceed 100 million tons by the end of this year.
