According to the Persian Gulf Petrochemical
Industries Company (PGPIC), a delegation of parliamentarians visited the project
which is now 90 percent complete.
Members of the Parliamentary Energy Committee travelled
to the southwestern province of Khuzestan on Wednesday and learned about the
latest developments in the mega project which is touted as the largest energy
project in the history of the Islamic Revolution since 1979.
After the visit, the chairman of the Iranian
parliament's energy committee, Fereydoon Hassanvand, emphasizing that Bidboland
Refinery is one of the country's most important and strategic projects, said:
"The project will be completed at its due date. The Energy Committee will
seriously pursue some of the issues facing the project, including expediting
the clearance of items needed for completion of the project from the customs, reducing
the red tape, and removing formalities that slow down its progress.”
Accompanying the MPs was the refinery’s CEO who
said the project was awarded to PGPIC back in 2015 which began its construction
in 2016 by funds allocated to the project from the National Development Fund of
Iran.
