Speaking
to NIPNA, a member of the commerce and export development committee of the Tehran
Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture (TCCIM), Abbas Argon,
said production of petrochemical products had considerable growth in the recent
years in Iran, adding petrochemicals account for the lion’s share of non-oil
exports in the country which makes it a key sector in the economy.
He said
that the US sanctions would not stop the development of Iran's petrochemical
industry, adding if the conditions were met and the process of attracting
investors were more open, “this value-creating industry can absorb large
domestic and foreign investments.”
Argon
said: "The role of petrochemicals in realizing the goals of the economy of
resilience is obvious, and it should be noted that the petrochemical industry
plays a key role in the country's development, as well as creation of jobs and
revenues; the industry undoubtedly increases the value of national capital
through completion of a value chain."
