TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- An industrialist in the field of polymer and plastics says Iran's position in the industry is exquisite, adding the country is regarded as the second major polystyrene hub in Asia and the largest supplier of the item in the Mediterranean, given the launch of new companies in recent years.

Speaking to NIPNA on the sidelines of the 12th IranPlast trade show, held Sept. 24-27 in Tehran, the Iranian capital, Peyman Tarabkhah, managing director of PetroPak Mashreq Zamin, said, “Our domestic and foreign visitors have increased by 20% compared to last year, from such countries as Spain, Mexico, Colombia, China, and the Balkans.

He said his company produced polymer grades that Saudi Arabia’s SABIC did not have the ability to produce, and only a few European companies enjoyed the savvy to supply.

Tarabkhah further said that his company, as a subsidiary of Boca Petrochemical Holding, was launched in 2017 and was currently the largest supplier of polystyrene in the Middle East with 100,000 tons of annual production capacity.

He said the main throughput of his company was styrene monomer, mineral oil, polybutadiene and other chemicals that are supplied domestically from Iran.

“We export items to 25 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and China,” he added.
