Speaking during a visit to the project which is
being completed for production of 175,000 tons per year of polypropylene, Reza
Nourouzzadeh said the feedstock required to run the plant would be supplied
given the fact that the country's polypropylene production capacity is on the
rise.
The project has so far made 62% physical progress
and is expected to be pre-commissioned by mid-2019. The plant's second phase
will bring its production capacity to 300,000 tons/year.
The initial investment for completion of the project
was estimated at Rls. 3,500 billion but the figure is currently estimated at
Rls. 7,500b.
Once operating at full tilt, the project will need
7,000 barrels per day of propylene for operation. Shazand Petrochemical Plant
is scheduled to feed the plant.
The country's demand for polypropylene is high
and plans are under way to increase the production of propylene, said Mr.
Nourouzzadeh during the Tuesday visit.
