The item is
widely used for producing heavy polyethylene grades.
A ceremony was
held with several petroleum and petrochemical officials in attendance for
signing of the document in Tehran on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
This catalyst
is in the family of Ziegler–Natta catalysts and can be used in the production
of high density polyethylene production slurry. This item can jockey its
foreign rivals in terms of quality and can be used for production of pipe-grade
polyethylene.
Jam, Maroon,
Shazand and Kermanshah petrochemical complexes are the current producers of
this grade of polyethylene in Iran.
Speaking about
the deal, Ismail Ghanbari, the PRTC CEO, said that PRTC with 10 years of
research in the field of catalysts and providing the necessary infrastructure
for the research and development of various polyolefin catalysts has succeeded
in building the SAC500 catalyst.
As he said,
the catalyst will be piloted for production of various injection molding
grades, bottles and tubes, and on a semi-industrial scale for the production of
PE100 specialized grade.
Ganbari
added: “One of the problems in the field of research is the lack of confidence
among industrial activists in the knowledge gains of research institutes, and
the contract is the first model in demand-driven research activity.”
He further
added that domestic production of 100 tons of the item will save the country 40
million dollars annually by curbing imports.
