Iran 8-Month Petchem Output at 35.6 mt

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Petrochemical facilities across Iran yielded 35.61 million tons of petrochemicals over the course of the first 8 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

According to the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), the 57 plants operating across the country have 62 million metric tons per year of installed capacity of which 60 million tons is estimated to be produced this year.

There are 21 petrochemical plants that operated at Mahshahr Petrochemical Economic Zone (PETZONE), located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

During the 8 months, the plants supplied 13.1 million tons of items while their annual rated capacity stands at 25.6 million tons.

The zone is expected to supply 21 million tons by the end of this calendar year.

Moreover, 16 plants operate in Asalouyeh, south of Iran. The facilities have 32.7 mt/y of installed capacity and have so far produced 15.1 mt. An output of 26.5 mt is expected of the plants by the end of the year.

The 21 other plants operating in other regions of the country enjoy 13.7 mt/y and have so far supplied 7.3 mt. The plants are also estimated to yield 11.4 mt of products by the end of this year.
