TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei says the company is not in talks with any American companies directly.

Addressing a seminar on the petrochemical industry on Wednesday, the official responded to a question by a reports about holding talks with an American company, saying NPC is not in talks with any American companies.
She said NPC is negotiating with the European branch of a leading American company, adding it will hold a joint technical seminar with the company in the near future.
Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, further said Indian investors have proposed investment in an ammonia project that would consider receiving gas at 5 cents which was dismissed by the Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh because Iran does not supply gas at that price to anyone.
“The Iranian Ministry of Petroleum cannot sell its gas short to Indians for them to invest in Iran,” she added. “Considering the price of gas at 4 to 5 cents would be pretty lucrative for even domestic companies.”
She also said NPC is in talks with many foreign companies for signing MoUs and investment in numerous projects in Iran.
