Speaking on
Sunday at a ceremony marking Sacred Defense Week, Shakeri said the country’s
efforts today extend beyond the military field to the economic sphere, where
the oil and petrochemical industries play a central role.
He paid
tribute to the country’s fallen soldiers and veterans, saying their sacrifices
should serve as a reminder of the responsibilities involved in serving the
country.
“Every
responsibility entrusted to us is an opportunity provided by the country to
fulfill our duty,” Shakeri said, adding that such responsibilities should be
pursued with greater determination under current conditions.
Maintaining
energy supplies
Referring to
attacks on oil industry facilities, Shakeri said industry workers continued
operating around the clock despite the possibility of further attacks, working
to keep transmission lines and energy supply routes operational.
He said
maintaining fuel supplies under those difficult circumstances was the result of
the dedication and efforts of oil industry workers.
Under the
direction of Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad, he added, efforts ensured that
fuel supplies to the public were not interrupted.
Shakeri
described the work carried out by oil industry employees during the crisis as
part of their contribution to the country’s economic effort.
He thanked
employees across the oil and petrochemical industries for their work, saying
that despite the difficulties they faced, they had been given an important
opportunity to serve the country.
At the end of
the ceremony, the NPC chief honored the company’s veterans.
